I am a technical communications & training analyst with highly-developed skills in editing, Plain English writing and content production. I have 10 years’ experience in developing and delivering training for VET, corporate and government audiences.
In my last contract I managed digital change projects at Waverley Council. I researched and assessed learning management systems to support their new Office365 cloud environment. I used Prosci ADKAR methodology to effectively introduce a series of organisational systems and procedural changes. I worked on contract at SDN as an BA/instructional designer analysing their business processes and then creating a new Practice Manual for NDIS practitioners. At the NSW Land and Housing Corporation I drew on my experience in web technologies; stakeholder, vendor and project management to build organisational capability and manage the planning, build and deployment of their new intranet. My goal is to give my colleagues the skills and confidence to use this technology daily; make it easier for them to collaborate with others and do their job well; while increasing productivity and efficiency within legislative and accessibility constraints. I keep up to date with emerging technologies and the implications that these present in regard to privacy, copyright and regulatory compliance. To keep abreast of these issues I have joined, and am a regular participant in, a number of industry forums and discussion groups. I can code HTML and basic CSS and am an advanced user of Adobe Creative Suite tools. |
After 12 years as Marketing Manager for various national entertainment companies, I gained qualifications in Training, Technical Writing and Digital Production. My background in graphic design brings my skills in layout, illustration and type aesthetics to LAHC as an aid to communication. I worked as a journalist and proof-reader for a business magazine and began a Master’s degree in Writing. I'm experienced in writing for publication and have a knack for being able to convey complex concepts in a clear, logical and accessible way.
I am well-versed in areas of compliance, continuous improvement and quality customer service and have significant experience in producing web content, e-learning programs and procedural documentation. As a project manager and change leader at the Australian Chamber Orchestra I led the team which moved our national subscription operations in-house. This involved research, user testing, development and delivery of systems and soft skills training programs and troubleshooting the implementation. At Film Australia, I developed databases and on-line tools while also planning launch events for 20 titles per year. In these roles I successfully juggled many competing priorities. In 2012, I completed a 3-month contract with RailCorp as Technical Editor on a large scale review of the Safety Management System. |
I worked closely with stakeholders, developing change communications and marketing collateral, and editing complex safety documents into clear yet compliant operating procedures and guides.
In 2011, I was employed as Instructional Designer/Technical Writer at Leighton Holdings to generate web content, edit highly technical documents into clear, plain English; create course documentation and e-learning (using Captivate 5.5) for our multinational clients. I was part of the software development team in an Agile environment. My recommendations on major changes across internal and customer-facing training procedures and the merging of disparate documentation, user guides and e-learning into a Confluence enterprise wiki were adopted by management. To manage these complex tasks, and prioritise competing demands, I used my project skills to develop project scopes, plans, stakeholder communication and engagement strategies. This allowed me to coordinate requirements, track milestones to ensure the projects were delivered to quality expectations, within time and on budget. I'm a self-starter who produces results with minimal supervision. While I am a passionate crusader for new technology, I strive to persuade and teach others in a respectful way by drawing on the skills they already have and showing them how these translate to new systems. I use empathy, humour and expertise in equal amounts to achieve my goals. |
